Method 1: Use chip-mounted ID card or CCCD
Passengers can use ID cards or chip-based CCCDs to take Metro Line 1 for free on September 2nd.
When arriving at the ticket gate, passengers directly scan the ID card/CCCD with a chip attached to the control device to pass through the gate.
This is a convenient option for people taking the Metro to the central area to watch fireworks, without having to receive paper tickets at kiosks.
Method 2: Use QR code on HCMC Metro HURC application
Passengers can download the HCMC Metro HURC application, then select the "QR HCMC METRO" function to create a ticket code and scan the code at the ticket gate.
Note that the "QR HCMC METRO" function starts appearing on the application from September 2, 2026 and is only valid on the same day.
Therefore, people can prepare an application on their phones before coming to the station, then create a QR code when using the service on September 2nd.
Method 3: Receive free QR tickets at kiosks
Passengers who do not use Chip-based ID cards/CCCD or QR codes on the HCMC Metro HURC application can go to kiosks at the station to receive free QR tickets.
After receiving the ticket, passengers use the QR code on the ticket to scan at the ticket gate.
Notes when traveling on the metro on September 2nd
On September 2nd, all passengers using Metro Line 1 are free of charge. Passengers only use one of the above 3 forms to pass through the ticket gate.
People should not buy tickets with a fee. If they still buy tickets, the system will record the payment and the operating unit will not refund the purchased amount.

Notably, Metro Line 1 will operate 264 train trips, service time from 5am to 11pm on September 2nd.
To serve people going to watch fireworks, from 9 pm - 10:30 pm, the interval between trains is reduced to 5 minutes/trip. Increasing frequency aims to improve transport capacity and limit waiting time when the number of passengers increases.
People choosing Metro to watch fireworks should be proactive in time, prepare a chip-based ID card/CCCD or a phone with the HCMC Metro HURC application for convenient passage through the gate, and also note that the last operating time of the route is 11pm.
