The school is closed, students have not had any classes yet.
After the Lunar New Year holiday, 154 students of Tan My school (Quang Phuc Primary School No. 1, Quang Phuc ward, Ba Don town, Quang Binh province) still cannot return to class because their parents objected to the decision to transfer from the satellite school to the main school.
Four days have passed, and many students are still being taken by their parents to the Tan My satellite school. However, instead of going to class, they just stand outside because the school has been closed according to the plan of the local government.
People said that the main school is nearly 2km away from the satellite school, so traveling is difficult, so they want to continue studying at this school.
According to Mr. Phan Tien Lam - Principal of Quang Phuc Primary School No. 1, the transfer of students to the main school was carried out under the direction of the People's Committee of Ba Don town and the People's Committee of Quang Phuc ward to ensure the safety of teachers and students.
Tan My satellite school has 6 classes with 154 students. According to the plan, this school must close in January 2025 because it does not ensure safety for teaching and learning.
The school has held 3 meetings to promote and mobilize parents and has prepared 6 fully equipped classrooms at the main school to welcome the children. However, since February 3rd, many parents have not sent their children to study at the main school.
Keep moving
Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh - Vice Chairman of Ba Don Town People's Committee said that at this school, there are 7 classrooms that are no longer safe.
The Tan My satellite school was built a long time ago and is vulnerable to natural disasters. Therefore, the government invited the Construction Quality Inspection Center (Quang Binh Department of Construction) to conduct a site inspection.
All 7 classrooms are seriously degraded. Many structural components are no longer able to withstand the load, are in a state of local danger, and cannot be used normally.
Therefore, the People's Committee of Ba Don town decided to temporarily close the Tan My satellite school and transfer all students to the main school - which has better facilities, a spacious campus and full learning equipment.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh informed that to ensure the safety of students and teachers, we hope that parents will temporarily send their children to study at the main school.
In the coming time, the Town People's Committee will develop a plan to upgrade or build a new school. However, the biggest difficulty at present is the budget. Currently, the public investment budget is in its final stages, so this year the focus will mainly be on debt repayment, and new projects will not be able to start.
In the long term, the town will seek investment to rebuild the school. Another option is to find investors to open a private school, prioritizing the people's wishes.
After understanding the situation, the government will coordinate with the Fatherland Front, departments, organizations and schools to continue to mobilize and explain to the people. Closing the Tan My satellite school is necessary because the 7 classrooms are no longer safe.
