On the afternoon of January 20, the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy organized a workshop on the topic "Career Orientation - Opening the Way to the Future".
This is a key event in the chain of VUTM Open Day 2026 activities, aiming to develop high-quality traditional medicine and pharmacy human resources in Vietnam.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy, said that traditional medicine today is facing a very clear period of transformation. Society needs people in the profession who are not only good at medicine but also understand science; have research thinking; have the ability to apply technology, especially have a spirit of entrepreneurship and integration.
Therefore, traditional medicine students in the current period not only learn to practice, but also learn to adapt, be creative and lead the development of the industry in the future.
Starting from the above spirit, at the conference, experts, scientists, managers and businesses will bring students practical perspectives such as: From medical examination and treatment facilities; from scientific research; from businesses, the labor market; from management to policies...

Those are experiences that do not have a curriculum but are extremely important for the career path, so that students are more confident in the career path they choose for themselves, their families and society" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy expressed.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Khiem, Department of Pediatrics, Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy, in Vietnam, traditional medicine and medicine have a long history of development and are of great concern and encouragement to the Party and State.
Although the demand for traditional medicine is increasing, the source of this field in our country currently still does not fully meet practical requirements, especially at the grassroots health level, remote and isolated areas.
In addition, the quality of training between institutions is still uneven; clinical practice capacity, scientific research and East-West medicine coordination capacity are still limited, these shortcomings directly affect the effectiveness of implementing guidelines and policies for traditional medicine development in practice.
In addition, the aging population, the increasing burden of chronic diseases, along with the orientation of integrated medicine development, are strongly increasing the demand for traditional medicine use globally and in Vietnam very largely.
In that context, developing traditional medicine and pharmacy human resources in sufficient quantity, ensuring quality, being well-trained, standardized and internationally integrated is an urgent requirement. This is not only a professional task of the health sector, but also a long-term strategy to effectively implement the goals of developing traditional medicine and pharmacy according to the orientations of the Party and State and in accordance with the general trend of the world.
Mr. Bui Tien Dung - Department of Student Affairs (Ministry of Education and Training) said that for the issue of traditional medicine startups, it is a field with special advantages due to having a stockpile of local knowledge and health care methods that have been accumulated for a long time.
He noted that the field of traditional medicine is a field "sensitive" to legality, standards and ethics; standardizing processes and quality control (manual work, lack of standard operating procedures, lack of monitoring data, lack of data analysis technology systems); excessive communication/marketing, causing legal risks and social trust risks.
Therefore, starting a business in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy needs a consistent principle: true value, standard process, standard communication, compliance with the law, taking safety and professional ethics as the root. In addition, developing the startup and career development capacity for traditional medicine and pharmacy students in the new period needs to follow a direction of solid expertise, legal standardization, innovation, digital transformation and linking the ecosystem.
If done correctly, we will not only preserve traditional medicine and pharmaceuticals but also elevate and transform traditional knowledge into healthcare products/services with real value, standards, and the ability to be replicated, contributing to employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable development of the field of traditional medicine and pharmaceuticals in Vietnam in the future" - Mr. Bui Tien Dung proposed.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
