Center back Nguyen Hieu Minh had a season of maturity beyond expectations when he won the Best Young Player award in the 2025 National First Division and won the Southeast Asian U23 Championship with U23 Vietnam.

The mark in U23 Vietnam

In the 2024-2025 season, Nguyen Hieu Minh is one of the most stable players of PVF-CAND. His solid playing style, strong ability to compete and progress through each match helped him to be highly appreciated.

The reward for those efforts was that Hieu Minh was included in the outstanding squad and won the title of Best Young Player of the National First Division - an important milestone in the 21-year-old center-back's career.

His impressive form in the home team's shirt helped Hieu Minh catch the eye of coach Kim Sang-sik when he was on the list of U23 Vietnam participating in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. In the opening match, the player born in 2004 left his mark with a double goal to help U23 Vietnam win 3-0 against U23 Laos. From the group stage to the semi-finals, Hieu Minh maintained stability, showing the bravery of a young player with extensive experience in the front.

The final match in Indonesia created great pressure for the young players of U23 Vietnam. Tens of thousands of homeowners filled the stands, cheering enthusiastically, making the atmosphere stuffy. For Hieu Minh, this is the biggest challenge in the journey to the glory of the Golden Star Warriors.

The moment U23 Vietnam lifted the U23 Southeast Asian Championship, Hieu Minh shared the joy with his teammates but still brought his own pride. It is not only a reward for their efforts but also an affirmation that the young generation of Vietnamese players have enough courage to stand firm against pressure and challenges.

"The whole team played resiliently and unitedly, no one gave up. That is the reason we defeated Indonesia. Being champion with U23 Vietnam on days when the whole country is looking forward to celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day is truly a very special and proud feeling. This is not only the victory of the team but also a spiritual gift to the Fatherland and fans - Hieu Minh proudly shared about the meaningful moment.

The 2025 Southeast Asian Championship is just the beginning, not the destination of the 21-year-old center back. The road ahead is full of challenges, from V.League to regional tournaments and continental playgrounds. The experience accumulated through each match will help Hieu Minh become more mature and more confident.

New goal

After winning the U23 Southeast Asian Championship, I aim to continue to improve myself, train to contribute more to PVF-CAND in V.League, U23 Vietnam as well as aim for the opportunity to wear the national team jersey. I hope to be able to achieve more achievements with the team so that fans can be proud - this central defender affirmed.

In the new 2025-2026 season, Nguyen Hieu Minh made his first appearance in the V.League in the PVF-CAND rookie jersey. This is an important step forward for the new 21-year-old central defender after a successful year at the club and national team level.

From being just a young talent, Hieu Minh has gradually affirmed his ability in the First Division and youth tournaments in the region. However, V.League is a completely different challenge, which requires experience and quick adaptation to foreign players and top domestic strikers.

This playground will open up more serious challenges, but it is also an opportunity for Nguyen Hieu Minh to prove himself in the top tournament. With a spirit of improvement, perseverance and aspiration to rise up, Hieu Minh is expected to continue to write new impressions, not only at PVF-CAND club but also at national team levels.
