Storm No. 11 weakens, many schools in Hai Phong allow students to return to school

Hai Phong - In the face of weakening storm No. 11, many schools in Hai Phong have notified students to go to school instead of deciding to take school breaks as on October 5.

On the morning of October 6, Hai Phong weather had light rain and moderate rain, so some schools in the city announced that students would return to school as usual.

At Le Hong Phong Primary School (Gia Vien Ward), at more than 6:30 a.m. on October 6, parents received a message saying that storm No. 11 did not affect Hai Phong much, so students went to school normally to ensure the curriculum.

Chu Van An Primary School also issued a similar announcement about organizing normal school activities on October 6 instead of school days as announced on the evening of October 5. Parents of Nguyen Trai Primary School also received a notice from the school for students to go to school on October 6. Phuc Le Primary School (Nam Trieu Ward) announced that students would be off school on the morning of October 6, returning to school on the afternoon of October 6.

However, most schools in eastern Hai Phong still keep announcements for students to be off school on October 6.

Latest update from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning (October 6), after moving deep into the mainland of Guangxi province (China), storm No. 11 Matmo has weakened into a tropical depression. At 7:00 a.m. on October 6, the center of the tropical depression was at about 22 degrees north latitude; 107.1 degrees east longitude, in the southern area of Guangxi province (China). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 7 (50 - 61 km/h), gusting to level 9. The tropical depression is moving westward at a speed of 20 - 25 km/h.

It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move west-northwest, at a speed of 20 - 25 km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area.

At 7:00 p.m. on October 6, the center of the low pressure area was at about 22.5 degrees north latitude; 104.8 degrees east longitude, in the mountainous areas of the North. Wind intensity below level 6.

The danger zone is north of the latitude of 20 degrees north; west of the longitude of 109 degrees east. The natural disaster risk level is level 3 for the northern area of the Gulf of Tonkin, mainland areas of Quang Ninh and Lang Son provinces.

Due to the weakening of the storm, it is expected that from noon on October 6, Hai Phong will lift the sea ban.
