On the evening of October 5, Vinh Bao High School announced that according to the weather forecast, in the early morning of tomorrow, storm Matmo (storm No. 11) will make landfall in the central area of Quang Ninh province, causing heavy rain and strong winds in the northern provinces. On land, the coastal areas of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong City may be subject to strong winds of level 9, 10, gusting to level 12, 13. Therefore, the school decided to let students stay home from school on October 6.
Along with Vinh Bao High School, many schools in the area have also announced that students will be off school such as Ngo Quyen Secondary School, Truong Cong Dinh Secondary School, Hoang Dieu Secondary School, Le Chan Secondary School, Thuy Huong High School, Thanh To Primary School... Tran Nguyen Han High School announced that students will study online on October 6.
Some schools announced that they will decide to take early school days on October 6 depending on weather conditions.
Previously, the Department of Education and Training also issued an official dispatch on strengthening and proactively preventing storm No. 11. Accordingly, based on the development of the storm, warnings of dangerous weather conditions and practical situations of educational institutions and localities, heads of educational institutions proactively decide to let students stay home from school, adjust the schedule and appropriate teaching methods to ensure absolute safety for students and teachers. Schools promptly notify parents, teachers and students before 9:00 p.m. on October 5 to be proactive in picking up, handling and caring for students, avoiding risks.
