Schools review and support students who lack textbooks
On September 3, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Thi Diem Tram - Principal of Ha Huy Tap Secondary School - said that through surveys, the school has more than 100 students registered for the need to borrow textbooks.
However, during the review process, the school will consider each case. For students in difficult circumstances, the school will provide support in the form of donating books.
For the remaining cases, in the first days of the school year, teachers will review the reality in each class, identify students who still lack books and subjects that are still lacking to have appropriate support plans.
Solutions that can be applied include using electronic books, guiding students to study according to the content of the lesson, or arranging for students to share books while waiting for supplementation.
At Hiep Tan Elementary School, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet - Principal of the school - said that there are currently more than 20 students registered to borrow textbooks. Among them, grade 1 has 3 registered students; grade 2 has 3 students; grade 3 has 6 students; grade 4 has 4 students and grade 5 has 5 students.
The school is contacting the book supplier and is expected to have books available for students to register to borrow in the near future. While waiting for the books, teachers will send an electronic book link for parents and students to refer to.
According to Ms. Minh Nguyet, the school has also donated textbooks to students in difficult circumstances.
Currently, most students have fully equipped themselves with textbooks, only a few have registered to borrow. The fact that some students do not have books right at the beginning of the year does not greatly affect teaching and learning, because teachers can flexibly organize group activities, let students use books together or change learning forms while waiting for books," Ms. Minh Nguyet said.
Meanwhile, at Phan Van Tri Primary and Secondary School, Mr. Le Hong Thai - the school principal - said that the preparation of textbooks for students is being deployed normally. Previously, the school surveyed the needs of parents to proactively prepare books.
According to Mr. Thai, the number of students registering to borrow books is not large. Students who have needs have registered and received books before entering the new school year, instead of having to wait until the school year begins.
Parents take advantage of buying books before the opening ceremony
Recorded on the afternoon of September 3rd, at the bookstore of Vietnam Education Publishing House in Ho Chi Minh City, the retail and set selling areas all had parents coming to find and buy textbooks for their children. The number of buyers was quite large but there was no overload.
Ms. Hoai Thu (Chanh Hung ward) said she is looking to buy 7th grade textbooks to help her child. However, some books are not currently available at the store, including Music and Physical Education books. Bookstore staff announced that some books are temporarily out of stock and are expected to have more in the next few days.
Similarly, Ms. Hoang Van Khanh (Nha Be commune) said she is buying textbooks for her child to study in grade 1.
Before that, I bought at some bookstores near my house but it was not enough, now I came here to buy a few missing books," Ms. Khanh said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha (Chanh Hung ward) said that she had bought enough textbooks from a few days ago, and is currently looking to buy some more notebooks and homework.
According to the plan, the opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 school year in Ho Chi Minh City will be held on September 5, combining the form of direct school and online according to the general program on a national scale.
