In 2026, 5 female students became valedictorians of the Military Medical Academy, possessing outstanding academic achievements and many special stories behind them.

Dreams nurtured from childhood

In a letter sent to herself 10 years later, Nguyen Truc Linh Anh, a former student of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, once wrote a very innocent dream: To become a doctor so that "no one suffers anymore".

That thought started from a time when Linh Anh fell at the age of 9. A passerby helped her disinfect the wound, put bandages and kindly said: "Then the pain is gone!".

That evening, Linh Anh wrote in the letter: "I want to be a doctor so that I can have as many bandages as possible for my friends so that no one is hurt anymore!". Ten years later, the girl she used to be was admitted to the medical and civilian system at the Military Medical Academy.

Le Huynh Minh Khue also cherished the dream of becoming a doctor from a young age. Born into a military family, with a grandfather and a father who were both soldiers, Khue's childhood was associated with military marches.

In the years of the COVID-19 epidemic, witnessing the sacrifice of the medical team, Khue and his friend made bulletproof glasses and mask straps to send to those who directly cared for patients. The dream of becoming a military doctor also grew from then on.

Khue owns a remarkable achievement with IELTS 7.5, many prizes for excellent students in Biology, scientific and technical research. She also participated in establishing the Vung Tau English Club and many community activities.

Continuing the family story

For Nguyen Le Khanh Ha, a son of Dak Lak province (formerly Phu Yen), the dream of wearing a blouse is also associated with a unfinished family story.

Ha's "grandfather" was a physician who sacrificed himself in 1954 while saving people. After him, the tradition of medicine in the family was interrupted. Witnessing his elderly grandparents often sick, Ha even more hoped to become a doctor and bring the blouse color back to the family once again.

Ha's military uniform color was nurtured by her grandmother - a former political prisoner. The stories of the previous generation made the young girl wish to both study medicine to save people and be trained to serve the Fatherland.

In the high school graduation exam, Ha achieved 29.25 B00 points with three scores of 9.75 in Math, Chemistry and Biology.

Cao Ngoc Anh also found her way to the Military Medical Academy from her own family. Anh's father and many relatives work in the medical industry, and her maternal grandfather participated in the resistance war against the US for 10 years.

Stories about military doctors side by side with soldiers on the battlefield sowed in Anh the image of two colors of clothes that she wished to wear together one day: the white blouse of a doctor and the blue of a soldier.

For me, wearing two colors of clothes carrying two sacred and noble missions is not only a source of pride, but also a reminder that behind each color of clothes is a responsibility that I must strive to be worthy of," Anh shared.

From disappointment to "golden ticket

Unlike her early friends who determined their dreams, Nguyen Thi Hong - a specialized math student at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted (Bac Ninh) - gradually entered high school without knowing what major or profession she liked.

The incident of her mother having an accident in the summer before 11th grade made Hong more aware of the value of health. From then on, the desire to become a doctor to be useful to her family and others gradually became a goal for her to pursue.

Behind that journey is a family with parents who sell beans and raise livestock. Since Hong was young, her parents often woke up at 2-3 am to make goods and take care of their children.

In the high school graduation exam, Hong achieved 27.75 points. Once disappointed because she thought she could do better, she quickly regained her spirit and entered the QDA competency assessment exam of the Ministry of National Defense - the next opportunity to reach the Military Medical Academy.

The result of 123 points became a "golden ticket", as Hong called it, closing the journey to conquer the university door and opening a new journey.
