Reader N.T. M. A asked, is a candidate who won the second prize in the national excellent student exam in Geography eligible for direct admission to university?
On the Government Electronic Information Portal, the Ministry of Education and Training responded as follows:
According to the provisions of Article 8 of Circular No. 06/2026/TT-BGDDT dated February 15, 2026 of the Minister of Education and Training on direct admission subjects and priority admission regulations: "Candidates who win first, second, and third prizes in the national excellent student selection exam... are considered for direct admission".

Thus, candidates who win the second prize in Geography are eligible for direct admission, provided that they register for a major or training program suitable for Geography as prescribed by the training institution.
Regarding the time to enjoy benefits, Circular No. 06/2026/TT-BGDĐT stipulates: "The time to enjoy priority policies and direct admission is no more than 03 years up to the time of admission consideration".
Based on the above regulations, candidates who win the second prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Geography are considered for direct admission to university; must register for a major suitable for the winning subject prescribed by the training institution; the benefits are valid for a period of no more than 3 years from the date of winning the prize.
