The program is organized with the aim of introducing the coaching method in professional development for teachers on Learning through Play (LTP). National trainers attending the training will continue to train core teachers at primary schools in the project area, thereby widely applying the coaching activity, helping teachers improve the effectiveness of implementing LTP in teaching.
The program took place from September 18 to 20, 2024, in Da Nang City, attracting the participation of national lecturers from the Ministry of Education and Training, pedagogical universities, Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences (VNIES) and key lecturers from 9 project provinces and cities.
The training program provided basic theoretical content on coaching, while creating opportunities for participants to practice skills. With the guidance of VVOB representatives, delegates became familiar with the application of the GRROW model in coaching, aiming to support teachers in defining goals, analyzing the current situation, finding solutions and building action plans, thereby helping teachers to be more confident in implementing the HTQC approach into teaching practice.
Through hypothetical situations, participants experience and practice essential skills for coaching, including active listening skills, questioning skills, and effective feedback skills. The training program also emphasizes the active practice and development of a system of skills in coaching, aiming to build a continuous and sustainable professional development process for both the coach and the coachee.
At the workshop, the organizers also introduced to delegates the newly updated "Learning through Play" document set. The content of the document set provides many practical examples, the latest research and detailed instructions, helping teachers confidently apply the HTQC approach to teaching, creating interesting and effective lessons, contributing to improving the quality of education.
As a team of experienced experts, lecturers and teachers, the delegates attending the program worked and discussed enthusiastically and openly with the goal of not only mastering the theory of coaching skills but also understanding how to apply and convey this knowledge to teachers and school administrators in each locality.
The success of the training program has opened a new direction for innovation in teaching methods. VVOB and the Ministry of Education and Training are committed to continuing to accompany teachers, expanding this approach to many other localities, contributing to improving the quality of education in the country.
