The final match is played in 2 standard chess games in the first and second legs. In case the 2 players stop at a draw, a quick chess game will take place to determine the winner.
In this final match, all Chinese chess fans gathered to watch the moves of each player.
In the first leg, Lai Ly Huynh was led to start the match first. Although focusing to maintain the starting advantage, Lai Ly Huynh could not overwhelm Trinh Vu Dong, so the first leg stopped at a draw.
The second set took place with caution from the 2 chess players. No one wanted to make mistakes to lose the advantage. In this set, Trinh Vu Dong played better with effective calculated moves. Therefore, Lai Ly Huynh did not create a surprise, so he accepted defeat.
Losing in the second leg, Lai Ly Huynh lost overall in the final match of the Ngu Duong Boi Chess Tournament 2026 and received the runner-up position. The runner-up position helped this player receive an award of 180,000 yuan from the Organizing Committee (equivalent to more than 680 million VND).
Lai Ly Huynh became the first Vietnamese player to reach the final of the Ngu Duong Boi tournament. This year, Ly Huynh was specially invited to participate as the reigning world champion.
