In addition to the host delegation of Vietnam, the 25th International Mathematics Competition - VIMC 2025 in Da Nang also has the participation of 30 countries and territories, with the expected number of 526 contestants, 181 teachers, and 100 international guests.
The International IMC Mathematics Competition is an annual competition held alternately in member countries for excellent students in Math. This is one of the most prestigious international math exams for junior high school students.
The exam is organized according to international standards of the International Mathematics Competition (IMC), including two groups: Key Stage II (class 5 - 6) and Key Stage III (class 7 - 8).
Each student participates in 2 compulsory rounds: individual round and team round. The exam questions are selected from the recommendations from the professional committees of participating countries. The international organizing committee - coordinated by Chiu Chang Foundation - will select, compile and agree on the official exam questions.
Personal round: EMIC: The test consists of 15 questions, a maximum of 150 points, the test takes 90 minutes. IWYMIC: The test consists of 15 questions, with a maximum score of 120 points, and a test duration of 120 minutes.
Team stage: 4 contestants in the same team competed in 10 events for 70 minutes, in a tight group coordination format. Maximum total score: 400 points.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City expressed his honor and pride that the city welcomed student delegations from all over the world.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that the presence of the delegations is a great source of encouragement for the city's government and people, and at the same time demonstrates Da Nang's position as a reliable destination for international intellectual and academic events.
"The exam took place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, an opportunity to promote the image of dynamic, creative and hospitable Da Nang; I hope that students will enter the exam with confidence, courage, and readiness to conquer the pinnacle of knowledge, while enjoying the joy of exchanging and experiencing in the city", said Mr. Tuan.
Before the opening ceremony, many activities took place such as "Puzzle Challenge" - Challenge of antagonistic mathematics, and the International Conference "Advanced Ai Models and Data Science" brings together many leading scholars and experts.
