According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, late in the evening of August 14, 2025, the historical artifact of the IL-14 aircraft of the Vietnam Civil Aviation industry has completed the final stage to prepare for transportation to the Exhibition "80 years of independence - freedom - Happiness".

The work of moving the IL-14 aircraft is carried out in close coordination between the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, Aviation Technical Services Joint Stock Company (AESC), a specialized transport unit with the Hanoi Department of Construction, Hanoi Traffic Police Department, Bo De Ward Police, Bo De Ward People's Committee and Exhibition Organizing Committee, ensuring absolute safety.
Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Uong Viet Dung requested units to be more determined, adjust the construction plan according to the principle of rolling, ensuring progress according to the direction of the Prime Minister and the Organizing Committee.
Previously, the artifact was inspected and reinforced according to specialized conservation standards to ensure its original state during transportation. This is a plane that was used to serve special flights carrying Uncle Ho.
After transporting to the "Aspiration for the Sky" exhibition subdivision at the National Exhibition, the technical team will continue to install, clean and complete the exhibition items, ready to serve visitors during the National's Solemn Ceremony to celebrate the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Bringing aircraft artifacts to display at the Exhibition not only has the meaning of introducing the achievements of the industry, but also contributes to vividly recreating the development journey and aspiration of Vietnam Airlines.
According to information from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, IL-14 aircraft with registration number VN-C482 is the first IL-14 aircraft of the 919 Transport Air Regiment - the predecessor of today's 919 Flight Group.
This is one of five aircraft provided by the Soviet Government to Vietnam in early 1957 and officially put into operation in 1958.
Among them, the VN-C482 has special significance when it was given by the Soviet Government to President Ho Chi Minh, used to serve commercial flights carrying Uncle Ho and Party and State leaders during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
A light transport aircraft produced by the Soviet Union, the IL-14 has notable technical characteristics:
