According to the school's 2026-2027 academic year tuition document, students who have not completed the program within the prescribed training time and still owe diplomas and certificates (informatics, English...) may be subject to overdue tuition fees.
This regulation makes some students confused, especially those who have completed the modules but only lack output certificates. They question the basis and how to calculate this amount of money if they do not register for more credits or do not participate in studying.
On August 21, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking - said that the regulations on handling students who study beyond the training period are issued by the school with the main purpose of warning, deterring and promoting students to complete the program on schedule.
According to Mr. Trung, each course has about 20-22% of students graduating late. There are cases where students have completed most of the program but only close to the expiration of the training period find that they still lack some conditions, such as English or informatics output standards. When exceeding the maximum deadline but not completing the program, students are at risk of not being recognized for graduation.
Regarding the reflection that students may have to pay a large amount of money when studying for too long, Mr. Trung affirmed that, up to now, the school has not collected this amount of money from any students.
When it comes to personal interests, students will proactively contact. At this time, the school has the opportunity to directly meet students to remind and urge them to complete their graduation, because there are many cases where calling cannot be answered, sending emails without response," Mr. Trung further explained.
The Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking said that the ultimate goal of the regulation is still to help students proactively complete the program, avoiding the situation of finishing most subjects but not being recognized for graduation due to a lack of a final condition.
The school does not want students to discover that they still lack output standards when their training period expires. At that time, it is very regrettable. Warning from the beginning so that students can proactively complete the program is the purpose of the regulation," Mr. Trung said.
