On the morning of May 26, nearly 43,000 candidates in Hung Yen completed the English exam in the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year. With multiple-choice format and a 60-minute exam time, many students left the exam room with a relaxed and confident feeling about the results.
At the exam site, Lai Hop Hoang Hai - a student of Tay Son Secondary School (Tran Hung Dao ward), said that it only took about 30 minutes to complete the test, then spent time checking the answers again.
According to Hai, the reading comprehension part is the biggest challenge because some questions require careful reasoning, but in general, the exam does not show many strange vocabulary, so students who review in the right focus can do well. The male student predicts he can get over 8 points.
Sharing the same opinion, Nguyen Tung Lam - a student of Tran Lam Secondary School (Tran Lam ward), assessed the exam questions as moderate, closely following the content he had reviewed.
Tung Lam said that the reading comprehension part had a few new words that took more time to grasp the content, but in general, he still did the test smoothly and was confident of getting 8 points or more. After two days of the exam, the psychology of many candidates was quite comfortable when they had completed the compulsory subjects.
According to teachers' assessment, this year's English exam has a stable structure, closely following the sample exam announced earlier, helping students not be surprised when entering the exam room.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - English teacher at Thai Phuong Secondary School (Tien La commune), commented that the questions mainly focused on secondary school knowledge, especially the 9th grade program. Familiar question types such as pronunciation, stress, synonyms - antonyms, communication, reading comprehension, word filling and dialogue arrangement all appeared with appropriate levels.
Most questions are at the level of recognition and understanding, not questioning grammar but focusing on the ability to apply English in the actual context.
According to general assessment, students who have a solid grasp of basic knowledge can get 5-6 points; good groups are likely to get 7-8 points, while perfect scores will not be many because there are still some differentiating questions at the end of the exam.
In the afternoon of the same day, candidates registering for the specialized high school exam will continue to enter the specialized exam subjects with a test time of 150 minutes.
