On June 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) announced the benchmark scores for admission to 10th grade specialized classes for the 2026-2027 school year.
This year, candidates applying to specialized classes of specialized high schools must take 3 compulsory exam subjects including: Literature, Mathematics, English and one specialized subject according to their registered aspirations.
The admission score for specialized classes is the total score of 3 subjects Literature, Mathematics, English (coefficient 1) and the score of specialized subject (coefficient 2).
According to the enrollment plan, only candidates who take all the prescribed exams, do not violate the regulations and all exams achieve scores greater than 2 are eligible to participate in admission consideration.
After announcing the benchmark scores, schools will guide admitted candidates to carry out enrollment confirmation procedures according to the regulations of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.
If they are not admitted or do not enroll in a specialized school (including the High School for the Gifted under Ho Chi Minh City National University), secondary school graduates in Ho Chi Minh City are still allowed to participate in admission to 10th grade usually according to 3 registered aspirations.

The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in Ho Chi Minh City takes place in two days, June 1st and 2nd, with more than 151,000 candidates participating. Among them, 11,110 candidates registered to take the exam for specialized schools.
