The high school graduation exam scores of more than 1.2 million candidates and the score distribution of traditional university admission blocks were announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on the morning of July 1. This is an important basis for determining the university benchmark scores for 2026.
Score distribution for all high school graduation exam subjects in 2026
From analyzing the score distribution, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, predicts that top schools and "hot" majors will have scores reduced by about 1 to 3 points. Especially this year, the C00 block scores will decrease significantly. As for other combinations, the fluctuation range is about 1 point and will be stable at the level of 15 to 20 points.

Also giving forecasts on benchmark scores for each subject combination, Mr. Dinh Duc Hien - CEO of FPT Bac Giang Primary, Middle and High School, said that the average score of block A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) is almost unchanged, while block A01 (Math, Physics, English) and C00 (Literature, History, Geography) decreased by nearly 0.5 and 2.5 points, respectively. On the contrary, scores of blocks D01 (Math, Literature, English) and B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology) increased by 0.4-1.4 points.
In block B00, the average and intermediate scores of candidates increased sharply. Therefore, Mr. Dinh Duc Hien predicts that the benchmark scores for Health Science majors such as Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Biotechnology in mid-level schools are likely to increase by 1-2 points.

In block A00, the score distribution is almost stable, so the benchmark score is difficult to fluctuate strongly. Mr. Hien predicts that the block of Engineering, Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical - Electronics in the mid-tier group of schools may increase by 0.25 - 0.75 points.
Conversely, hot industry groups such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Semiconductor Microchips may fluctuate in the range of 0.25 - 0.5.
Because although the average score has not decreased, the number of candidates in the absolute score zone has not increased significantly" - Mr. Hien said.
Conversely, the benchmark score for block C00 is forecast to decrease the most. The combined average score decreased by nearly 2.5 points compared to last year, in which Geography decreased sharply. Mr. Hien said that majors with benchmark scores in 2025 around 20-24 points may decrease by 2-3.5 points.
Highly competitive majors such as Journalism, Communications, Law, International Relations may decrease less, about 1 - 2.5 points, because the number of registered candidates is still large while the quota is not large" - Mr. Hien analyzed.
The benchmark score for block D01 is stable or increased by about 0.1 - 0.75 points, according to Mr. Hien. However, Mr. Hien said that this is a forecast based on the score distribution level.
The actual benchmark score of each major also depends greatly on the number of targets for graduation exam scores, the number of registered candidates, the attractiveness of the major and the proportion of targets switching to methods such as competency assessment, combined admission or international certificates. Therefore, for majors with few targets or strongly attracting students, the benchmark score may still increase higher than the general forecast" - Mr. Hien said.
