Stop teaching extra classes
Circular 29/2024/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) regulating extra teaching and learning takes effect from February 14. A series of provinces and cities have committed to strictly and fully implementing the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
In Hanoi, the Department of Education and Training requires schools to strictly implement regulations on extra teaching and learning in Circular No. 29. The Department also requires localities and schools to disseminate information about extra classes to teachers, students, and parents in accordance with regulations.
Previously, many schools in Hanoi have temporarily stopped teaching extra classes. Some schools plan to allocate funds to train target groups according to regulations, including groups with unsatisfactory academic results in the closing subjects of the semester; students selected for excellent student training; final year students, voluntarily registering to review for entrance exams and graduation exams according to the school's education plan.
In Ho Chi Minh City, a representative of the Department of Education and Training said that the Department's viewpoint is to resolutely implement in accordance with Circular 29, not to travel or sympathize, because this is a provision that is beneficial to students, contributing to ending the situation of forcing students to attend extra classes.
In Ha Tinh, a series of schools have completely stopped extra teaching and learning before Circular 29 takes effect. The leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh province said that the Department has issued a document requesting units to disseminate information to teachers and parents.
Encourage teachers to teach voluntary review
On February 17, Ms. Bui Thi Thanh - Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training signed a document to the Departments of Education and Training of districts, towns and cities in the province; units under the Department on the implementation of Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training in the management of extra teaching and learning.
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa requires educational institutions to proactively and promptly adjust teaching plans in schools; extra teaching and learning plans; reviewing excellent student exams, reviewing high school graduation exams and reviewing for grade 10 high school entrance exams that have been developed since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year;
Arrange funding for extra teaching and learning in schools from the funding sources allocated to units in 2025; develop internal spending regulations, including regulations on spending levels for organizing extra teaching and learning. At the same time, improve the quality of regular teaching hours, guide and supervise students' self-study to achieve efficiency, encourage students to self-study through software, video lectures, review websites, etc.
In Nam Dinh, in a document sent to affiliated units in the province on strict implementation of regulations in Circular 29/2024 of the Ministry of Education and Training on extra teaching and learning, the Director of the Nam Dinh Department of Education and Training requested units and schools to adjust the extra teaching and learning plan that has been developed since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year; organize high school graduation exam reviews and high school 10 exam reviews in 2025 to ensure effectiveness.
In particular, implementing good differentiation of students; prioritizing the arrangement of teachers to guide and help students with academic results at the Unsatisfactory or Good level; for those with academic results at the Good and Good level, students can be instructed to review themselves.
The assignment of teachers must ensure the maximum teaching period norm. Prioritize the arrangement of teachers with good teaching capacity, limit the assignment of these teachers to take on other concurrent tasks.
