As of mid-August 2026, the progress of deploying 7 inter-level boarding primary and secondary schools in Gia Lai border communes has completed more than 85% of the construction volume. Many main items have taken shape, but prolonged rain is causing many difficulties in the sprint stage.
At school sites, classroom blocks, dormitories and multi-purpose buildings have basically completed the structural part. However, some items such as dining halls, administration buildings, and teacher dormitories are still slow.
Continuous rain in the border area has caused outdoor construction to be suspended many times. In Ia Chia commune, hundreds of workers take advantage of each dry time to work, compensating for the interrupted time.
In Ia O commune, the construction progress is even slower when the project has just reached more than 80% of the volume. This is a school point that is being supported by military forces to accelerate the unfinished items.
Nearly 780 officers and soldiers continue to stick to the construction site, supporting contractors to compensate for progress even though they have completed the assigned tasks, contributing more manpower for the final sprint.
Mr. Lam Hai Giang - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that to date, the completed volume at some school sites is still large. Meanwhile, unfavorable rainy weather, difficult terrain and lack of highly skilled human resources are putting pressure on the progress and quality of the project.
Before the requirement to complete essential items to serve the 2026-2027 school year, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested the Command of Army Corps 34, the Command of Military Region 5 and the Provincial Military Command to continue to maintain support forces at school sites until September 30.
In the immediate future, the force prioritizes completing the necessary items to serve the opening of the new school year. After that, continue to support the renovation, cleaning, landscape and completion of auxiliary items.
Specifically at Ia O commune school point, the province proposed that the military unit continue to maintain the existing force and consider adding 30 skilled officers and soldiers, including 20 main workers and 10 assistant workers, focusing on completing the construction, plastering, tiling, and paving parts.
Gia Lai province thanks the timely support of the Command of Army Corps 34, the Command of Military Region 5 and the Provincial Military Command. Hundreds of officers and soldiers have stayed at the construction site, contributing to accelerating the progress of 7 inter-level boarding schools, supporting students in border areas to have more learning conditions in the new school year.
