On September 20, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan directed departments and People's Committees at the commune level to implement tuition policies; exempt, reduce, and support tuition fees and revenues in the field of education and training for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training and related units to guide educational institutions, People's Committees of communes and wards to fully implement regulations on fees collected in education.
At the same time, urgently advise the Provincial People's Council to issue a resolution on tuition support levels for preschool children, primary school students and students studying general education programs at private and public institutions; report to the Provincial People's Committee in September 2025.
On the same day, Mr. Pham Van Nam - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province - said that he is coordinating with the Department of Justice and the Department of Finance to establish a drafting team to implement procedures under the direction of the Provincial Chairman.
The Department is advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue regulations on tuition fees for public school students in each region, on that basis the provincial budget will compensate schools to ensure regular spending activities.
At the same time, the Department also advised the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the People's Council a Resolution on tuition fees for public preschools and primary schools in the 2025-2026 school year; tuition support for preschool children and students at private and public facilities, to implement tuition exemption and support policies in the area.
"From the tuition fee of public schools, the province will determine the tuition support level for private and public schools. Parents studying at private schools only need to pay the difference if the actual tuition fee is higher than the support level," said Mr. Nam.
Gia Lai province currently has 1,371 schools at all levels of education, including 102 private and public schools (93 kindergartens, 1 primary school, 8 high schools). It is expected that the total budget for compensation for public schools to implement tuition exemption policies will be about 960 billion VND; tuition support for private and public educational institutions will be about 76 billion VND.
