Information about the slaughtering and consumption line of nearly 300 tons of diseased pork, smuggled into markets and even school kitchens in recent days has caused public concern, causing many parents to worry and panic.
On April 2nd, Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) Nguyen Van Hien provided information related to this case.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, after the incident occurred, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training issued a document requesting localities and schools to urgently review and quickly report on the food safety situation, and report to the Department of Education and Training this afternoon, to summarize and report to city leaders.
The head of the Capital's Education sector especially reminded leaders of communes, wards, and school leaders about ensuring food safety for semi-boarding in schools.
The matter is very largely related to public opinion," Mr. Hien said, and also said that the city is currently preparing to issue a project on semi-boarding meals, which clearly defines the authority and responsibility of relevant parties in the process of implementing this.
Regarding the incident, information appeared on social networks that many schools used pork from Hanoi Industrial Meal Service Joint Stock Company - one of the units that signed contracts to take meat from Cuong Phat Food Co., Ltd.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Hong Duy - Deputy Director of Hanoi Industrial Meal Service Joint Stock Company said that the unit is currently providing meals for about 90 schools in the city.
Through initial review in the area, the unit identified two related schools: Hong Van Primary School (Hong Van commune) and Chu Van An Primary School (Thanh Liet, Hanoi).
We will continue to coordinate with functional agencies to review and evaluate whether any units have used this product batch in January, February and early March. If so, businesses will coordinate with the health sector to inspect and specifically determine the origin and quality of the product," Mr. Duy said.
At the working session with parents on April 2, the enterprise provided complete related documents, including the three-step inspection book, food delivery minutes and invoices and documents.
The business representative also said that the supply of Cuong Phat Food Co., Ltd. comes from many different units.
One slaughterhouse can have up to about 200 slaughtering facilities participating. The shipment that we imported is not from the facility of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien - the unit that was just handled by functional forces, but from another household," Mr. Duy informed.
However, in the context that the case is being investigated by functional agencies, the enterprise still proactively proposed that relevant units intervene to review and announce the evaluation results for the shipment.
Whether there is or not, we are still requesting functional agencies to inspect and clarify whether the product batch is infected with the disease or not? In case of identification of a risk, the enterprise will coordinate with medical facilities to organize examinations and tests for students; and at the same time closely coordinate with schools and related parties," Mr. Duy emphasized.
