300 tons of diseased pork case: Parents request school to provide transparent information
After the incident of nearly 300 tons of pork infected with African cholera being smuggled into the market, which is related to the supply chain to school kitchens, parents in Hanoi are particularly worried about food safety. Cuong Phat Food Co., Ltd. is identified as a link in the distribution chain, supplying meat to a number of intermediaries, thereby putting it into school kitchens.

According to information from related units, Hanoi Industrial Meal Service Joint Stock Company - a unit providing meals for many schools - mainly imports meat from major suppliers, but also uses additional sources from Cuong Phat to meet demand. This unit believes that it is a "victim" of fraudulent acts and does not intentionally assist in violations.
Faced with the above situation, many parents requested schools to be transparent about information about food sources, not just stopping at notifications but needing to provide specific evidence such as contracts, images, and control procedures. Schools simultaneously affirmed that they do not use related meat sources, and functional agencies have requested to strengthen inspection, review and ensure food safety in semi-boarding meals for students.
