More than 9,000 candidates fail to graduate from high school in 2025
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the rate of students recognized as high school graduates in 2025 will reach about 99.2%, a slight decrease compared to 2024. This is the first course for students graduating according to the 2018 general education program, with a new graduation score calculation method: exam scores account for 50%, average scores of grades 10, 11, 12 account for 50% and have additional priority points.

Supporting localities to remove difficulties in human resources in the education sector
After implementing the two-level local government model, the education sector has encountered many difficulties due to the lack of personnel in charge of education at the commune level. Each Department of Culture and Social Affairs in the commune/ward only has a maximum of 2 educational positions, but in reality, most of them have only one person, leading to overload. Worryingly, only about 20-30% of civil servants have education expertise, many of whom are not in the industry, causing difficulties in managing and advising on education expertise.
Faced with this situation, the Ministry of Education and Training and localities have proactively implemented many solutions. Since mid-July 2025, many parents have been preparing books and school supplies for their children before the new school year. According to the ceiling price prescribed by the Ministry of Finance, the price of textbooks at all three levels of education decreased by 10-15% compared to the previous year, helping parents significantly reduce the spending burden at the beginning of the school year.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Tien, a parent, shared: Near the end of the school year, I registered to buy textbooks through school for my children to avoid fake books. In the previous school year, both textbooks and supplementary books cost over 600,000 VND, this year the book for grade 8 costs over 456,000 VND. So I saved more than 150,000 VND, I bought an additional white shirt for my child's uniform".
