On July 13, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper received a report from Ms. N.T.M.S, 50 years old, a teacher in a mountainous commune of Nghe An province, about how she had waited for 12 years to return to her old school - where she had been attached to for many years.
According to the teacher's presentation, in 2011, while teaching Literature at Nghi Trung Secondary School, due to having a third child, Ms. S was disciplined for not completing her tasks and having her salary increased by 3 months.
In 2013, when her youngest child was less than 24 months old, the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district (old) decided to transfer her to work at Nghi Cong Secondary School - a mountainous area dozens of kilometers away from home, with difficult living and childcare conditions.
After dozens of petitions and recommendations to the Department of Education, the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district (old) and the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An, up to now, no agency has issued a decision allowing Ms. S to return to the old school.
"I am old, my health is very poor, and my children are also grown up. I just hope to be close to home to ease the hardships at the end of my career. But for the past ten years, I have only received an answer... please continue to wait," said Ms. S.
In some localities in Nghe An province, the district previously had regulations that teachers who violate population policies will be transferred to more disadvantaged areas. Up to now, the district government has stopped operating, but many teachers who were transferred have not been able to return to their old schools.
The transfer of teachers to disadvantaged areas, far from home, affects the psychology and creates more difficulties for teachers' work and life.
All teachers who were unintentionally transferred all wanted to return to their old school or transfer to a school near their home to facilitate work, reduce costs and travel time.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province said that they have grasped the situation of teachers and staff who were previously transferred or transferred and wished to return to their old school or school near their workplace.
"This is a completely legitimate wish, the Department's viewpoint also creates the most favorable conditions for arranging and arranging teachers so that teachers can work with peace of mind. However, due to many problems such as history and local shortages of teachers, it is extremely difficult to completely solve this problem" - said a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An province, in the coming time, if given the authority to manage, mobilize, transfer, and second teachers in the whole province, the Department will study optimal solutions to arrange and assign work appropriately, creating the most favorable conditions for teachers and staff of the school to confidently contribute.
