On April 24, Ben Cat Ward People's Committee (HCMC) reported on the results of handling the case of teachers of Luong The Vinh Primary School violating teacher ethics, which caused public outrage in recent days.
Previously, on April 15, information spread on social networks reflecting the fact that a 3rd grade teacher asked a student to violate the regulations by holding a syringe and pricking his hand. According to parents, their children showed signs of fatigue and fear after returning home from school. Not only one case, some other students were also subjected to similar "fines" when talking, not taking a nap or violating regulations.
The Board of Directors of Luong The Vinh Primary School later confirmed that the incident occurred in grade 3-6, related to teacher L.T. M. Through working, 5 students committed the act of self-injecting needles into their hands as requested by the teacher.
The teacher reported that he bought a needle to use for his sick child, then put it on the table and said that the violating student "self-inflicted a needle on his hand", not directly performing this act. The school assessed that this is a serious act, violating professional ethics, infringing upon children's health and rights.
After consideration, the school's Disciplinary Council unanimously applied the form of warning to Ms. L.T. M - homeroom teacher of grade 3. 6. At the same time, this teacher was assigned to be in charge of the equipment room, not continuing to teach.
Ben Cat Ward People's Committee said that the handling has been carried out according to the correct procedures, ensuring objectivity, considering mitigating circumstances such as the first violation, the teacher has taken responsibility, apologized to the parents and has difficult family circumstances.
Regarding student health, the test results showed that all 5 students were stable, did not have infectious diseases and had returned to school normally.
The school also held a teaching council meeting, working with parents of related students. According to reports, parents all agreed with the handling form.
The Ward People's Committee requested the school to continue monitoring the health and psychology of students; provide complete information to parents and strengthen the dissemination of regulations on teacher ethics. At the same time, assign the professional department to advise on considering the responsibility of the head of the unit, to avoid similar incidents from happening.
