The road to hardship
The storm has passed for more than a week, but the road to the Ruc village, Kim Phu commune (Quang Tri province) is still flooded 2-3m deep, cutting off 3 villages of Yen Hop, On and Mo O O O.
This is the residence of the Ruc and Sach ethnic groups, belonging to the Chut ethnic group. All activities and learning of students here face countless difficulties.
Every day, the commune government has to mobilize 2 boats to pick up and drop off teachers who have crossed the flood to school. The road to classroom is now not only far away but also full of danger.
The teacher and the motorbike on the boat, then moved by small boat through the flooded section, then took the motorbike to the school.

At Thuong Hoa Primary and Secondary School, all teachers chose to stay in the village, stay at the school to clean up, prepare tables and chairs, hang flags and slogans, and prepare for the opening ceremony. The school currently has more than 150 students, all of whom are children of the Chut ethnic group.
Mr. Phan The Dung - Principal of the school - shared: "Although the roads are cut off, the teachers have prepared carefully. The school campus is clean, tables and chairs are ready, students are eager to enter the new school year. We would like to express our special thanks for the sharing and support of the government and the Border Guard.
Joining hands for the future of children
In recent days, officers and soldiers of Ca Xeng Border Guard Station have directly worked with teachers to clear mud, decorate the classroom, and erect a row of red flags with yellow stars in front of the schoolyard. In addition to supporting cleaning work, the Border Guard Station also presented students with books, packs, and school supplies. For the students here, most of them come from poor families, it is a meaningful gift before the new school year.
Teachers also have to go to each house to encourage, grasp the psychology and situation of students, and ensure that they do not drop out of school. Many children are included in the programs "Studying up your steps to school", "Adopted children of the Border Guard Station" to receive regular support.
Lieutenant Colonel Duong Dinh Hoan - Political Commissar of Ca Xeng Border Guard Station - said that the unit had mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers to participate in cleaning the school, preparing for the opening ceremony.

"We coordinate with the government and schools to review children in difficult circumstances, support learning materials, include them in adopted children's programs, and help them go to school. Despite the difficulties, we always strive to ensure that students in flooded areas have a warm opening ceremony, said Lieutenant Colonel Hoan.
Mr. Phan Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of Kim Phu Commune People's Committee - said that the villages here are often isolated by floods for a month. Teachers in the village have to take a boat 2-3 times, in the dry season they drive more than 10km of the rugged mountain road, in the rainy season they have to stay in the village for a whole week, a whole month.
The road to school was filled with sweat and tears. The commune government mobilized forces and coordinated with the Ca Xeng Border Guard Station to support welcoming teachers and students back to school, preparing the best conditions for the opening ceremony.
The story of the journey to school of students in the mountainous areas of Quang Tri has become a vivid testament to the spirit of overcoming difficulties, the dedication of teachers and the companionship of the armed forces.
On the eve of the new school year, the image of the Border Guard with teachers wiping each table, washing each classroom, and re-establishing each red flag with a yellow star not only touches parents but also motivates students.
The new school year 2025-2026 began in many difficulties but was also filled with confidence. With the timely support of the government, Border Guard forces and the sense of responsibility of teachers, students in Ruc village, On village, and Mo O O O village will have a warm opening day, entering their learning journey with hope and aspiration to rise up.
