From the 2026-2027 school year, Hanoi students will learn AI content. Parents hope the program is suitable for each age group, increases practice and guides on how to use it properly.

According to Plan No. 4758 of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, from the 2026 - 2027 school year, 100% of educational institutions in the city will deploy AI education content for students from grades 1 to 12. Students will have access to core AI content with a duration of 12 periods/class/school year.

Students look forward to lessons on AI

Regarding Hanoi's introduction of AI education content into schools, Pham Hoai Chi - a high school student in Hanoi - said that this is content close to the actual learning and life of students today.

I think if I can learn about AI at school, it will be easier to understand, especially when I can practice and learn specific applications myself. I also want to know what to do and not to do when using AI" - Hoai Chi shared.

The female student believes that besides usage skills, learning about AI ethics and how to verify information is also necessary, because AI can give inaccurate answers.

I think students need to know that AI is just a supporting tool. When using it, we still have to think for ourselves, check information and take responsibility for what we use" - Hoai Chi said.

Parents expect students to be properly approached

Sharing with PV, Mr. Dao Van Kha - a parent whose child is in high school in Hanoi - said that bringing AI education content into schools is necessary in the context that this technology is increasingly popular in learning and life.

According to Mr. Kha, students today can access AI from many different sources. Therefore, learning about AI in schools will help them gain more basic knowledge and know how to access this technology appropriately.

AI can support students in finding information, learning foreign languages or referring to how to solve a problem. When guided by the school, children will better understand the capabilities of this technology and know how to use it appropriately" - Mr. Kha shared.

This parent believes that AI education content needs to be built to suit each age group. Young students can start from basic concepts, while older students get deeper access to how to apply AI to learning and life.

The important thing is that the content must be appropriate for students. Children learn from things that are close first and then gradually increase the level, it will be easier to absorb" - Mr. Kha said.

Also interested in bringing AI into schools, Ms. Pham Thi Mai - a parent with a child in 7th grade in Dong Anh commune, Hanoi - believes that lesson sessions should create opportunities for students to directly learn and practice instead of just receiving theoretical knowledge.

According to Ms. Mai, with a duration of 12 periods/class/school year, the school can choose situations close to students' lives so that they can easily visualize how AI is applied.

I think children should learn both how to use and principles when using AI. For example, when AI provides information, students need to know how to check it again, and should not assume that every answer is accurate" - Ms. Mai shared.

Ms. Mai also believes that the content about AI ethics needs to be emphasized, helping students understand that technology is created to support people, not to completely replace their thinking and creative abilities.

Children can use AI to refer to and find more ideas, but still need to think for themselves and give their answers. If guided early, I think students will form a more proactive way of using technology" - Ms. Mai said.
