On September 11, at the headquarters of Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN) in Ho Chi Minh City (Cho Quan ward), there is no longer a situation of parents queuing in long lines to the gate to wait to buy textbooks. The current demand mainly focuses on some missing books.
The staff of NXBGDVN has been strengthened, supporting parents from registering for textbooks they need to buy, taking books to paying, helping to significantly shorten waiting time.
For grade 10 textbooks, NXBGDVN arranges a separate guidance table to support parents in choosing textbooks according to the assignment that students register for.
Ms. Vo Ngoc Huyen Han (Cho Quan ward, Ho Chi Minh City) said that she had bought enough sets of textbooks for her child from the previous days. On September 11, she returned to buy some 8th grade books to send back to her child's hometown.
Thanks to the reduced number of buyers and the support of staff, I only took about 10 minutes to buy the book," Ms. Han said.
Similarly, Mr. Hoang Thanh Le (Thu Duc ward) said that he had been to many bookstores near his house before but did not have enough books.
My child is still short of some books such as History and Geography, Informatics, Vietnamese... Today we don't have to queue but we don't have enough books, the bookstore promises to have them after September 20th," Mr. Le shared.
In recent days, at the bookstore of Vietnam Education Publishing House, the situation of parents gathering to buy textbooks has been happening at many times.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, this situation stems from many reasons. Among them, there are parents from neighboring provinces coming to Ho Chi Minh City to buy books; some parents, after buying enough books, continue to help their relatives; in addition, there are cases of buying books to resell outside.
Faced with the situation that some students still lack books, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has requested schools to exploit library books for students to borrow, and mobilized parents to have 2 sets of books to support students who do not have books. Higher-grade students are also mobilized to donate old textbooks for lower-grade students to use temporarily.
While waiting for paper books, students can use free electronic textbooks from NXBGDVN at taphuan. nxbgd. vn. Teachers also prepare electronic lectures, worksheets, summary materials... to avoid affecting teaching and learning.
In the 2026-2027 school year, Ho Chi Minh City implements a policy of free textbooks according to the actual borrowing needs of students. Schools organize for students to borrow textbooks at libraries and return them after the end of the school year.
According to records, many schools such as Bui Thi Xuan High School, Marie Curie High School, Tran Van On Secondary School... have started distributing textbooks for students to register to borrow.
