On the evening of September 10, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) informed about the situation of supplying and lending textbooks (SGK) and solutions to support students while waiting for enough books.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that it has summarized the needs for textbooks and sent them to Vietnam Education Publishing House through Phuong Nam Education Investment and Development Joint Stock Company from March 4.
By September 8, Vietnam Education Publishing House had supplied more than 26.9 million copies, reaching 107% of the registered demand. However, among the books supplied, there were cases where parents bought 2 sets, while actual demand in some schools still arose.
Through reviewing the list of schools that have not been statistically booked with textbooks, the Department of Education and Training said that most schools have booked books or have plans to ensure books for students. Some units on the list that have not booked books are due to being merged, reorganized or no longer operating independently.
In some other cases, parents have proactively bought books for their children. Besides, some schools have received books but still lack a few books due to insufficient supply.
The Department of Education and Training said that to date, 100% of schools have finalized the actual needs for the 2nd time, registered to buy additional missing parts or completed order procedures. The amount of textbooks compiled and ordered by educational institutions according to actual needs is being urgently transported and handed over directly to each school.
After receiving, schools will specifically notify parents and students about the time and form of receiving books. Vietnam Education Publishing House is committed to delivering books to schools according to the agreed time.
According to the Department of Education and Training, the above-mentioned supplied data includes leased textbooks, purchased textbooks and textbooks equipped for libraries.
Faced with the reality that some students still lack one or several textbooks, the Ho Chi Minh City education sector has implemented support plans to ensure that learning is not interrupted.
Schools are required to maximize the source of textbooks that have been equipped for the library to support students. At the same time, the school mobilizes parents who have bought 2 sets of books for students who do not have books to borrow one set.
Old books are also mobilized. Upper-grade students can donate used textbooks to lower-grade students for temporary use while waiting for new books to be supplied.
For students with devices and internet connection, parents can use free electronic textbooks provided by Vietnam Education Publishing House at taphuan. nxbgd. vn.
While waiting for enough books, teachers also proactively use teaching aids such as electronic lectures, worksheets, knowledge summary materials... to ensure that students still fully absorb the content of lessons in class.
Regarding the situation of parents queuing in large numbers in some areas to buy and receive textbooks, the Department of Education and Training said that through grasping the actual situation, there are many reasons. Among them, there are parents from neighboring provinces coming to Ho Chi Minh City to buy books; some parents have bought enough but continue to buy for relatives, or there are cases of buying back books to sell outside.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the education sector and supply units are continuing to accelerate the progress of book handover. Parents are recommended to follow the school's official information channels to update the textbook receipt schedule, and at the same time coordinate to use temporary support plans to avoid affecting students' learning.
