The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in Ho Chi Minh City takes place in 2 days, June 1st and 2nd, with more than 151,000 candidates participating.
This year, public high schools in the city enrolled about 118,500 students into 10th grade, equivalent to about 78% of candidates taking the exam with a chance of passing.
Candidates take 3 compulsory subjects including Literature, Mathematics and English. Those who register for specialized or integrated classes take additional specialized or integrated subjects according to their registered aspirations.
After announcing the exam scores and benchmark scores for 10th grade specialized classes, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will continue to announce the benchmark scores for general public 10th grade classes for candidates to carry out enrollment procedures according to regulations.
How to calculate admission scores for each type is as follows:
Grade 10 usually:
Admission score = Literature + Math + Foreign Language + priority points, encouragement.
10th grade specialized class
Specialized admission score = Literature + Math + Foreign Language + (specialized subject score x 2).
Admission is only considered for candidates who take all exam papers according to regulations, do not violate exam regulations and all exam papers achieve above 2 points.
10th grade integrated
Group 1: Students who have studied the English program according to Project 5695 at the secondary school level in Ho Chi Minh City.
Admission score = Literature + Math + Foreign Language + average score of integrated English program (10 points scale).
Group 2: Students who do not study the English program according to Project 5695 at the secondary school level in Ho Chi Minh City.
Admission score = Literature + Math + Foreign Language + integrated English exam score.
