According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT), as of the deadline for registration, the whole city has 142,899 candidates registered to take the 2026 high school graduation exam. Of which, 8,128 candidates freely registered to take the exam for university, college admission or to serve personal needs.
This is the first year that the exam is organized on an expanded scale after arranging administrative units, including the Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau areas. The expansion of the area makes the organization, personnel coordination, transportation of exam papers and ensuring exam security face more pressure.
It is expected that the whole city will arrange 248 exam sites with 5,955 exam rooms.
To serve the exam, the education sector plans to mobilize about 17,865 invigilators, 1,240 exam site leaders and 2,976 service staff. In addition, there are 744 police officers on duty at the exam sites to ensure security and safety.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the planning of exam sites is implemented according to the principle of being convenient for candidates, suitable for traffic conditions and travel distance, while ensuring full facilities, surveillance cameras, electricity, internet and high-tech fraud prevention conditions.
This year, registration data statistics show that Foreign Language is the subject with the highest number of registered candidates with 65,007 students, accounting for 43.09%. Next is Physics with 64,162 candidates, accounting for 42.53%.
Other subjects with high registration volume include History with 41,113 candidates, Chemistry 38,120 candidates and Geography 33,574 candidates.
According to the expected plan, the grading work will take place from June 13-28, and the re-marking will be organized from July 20-23.
