On May 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) announced the data of 12th grade students registering to choose graduation exam subjects in 2026 with 142,899 candidates participating.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, out of a total of 142,899 registered candidates, there are 7,978 candidates who have graduated from high school in previous years but continue to participate in this year's exam.
In the elective subject group, subjects belonging to the natural science combination continue to prevail. In which, Physics has 64,162 registered candidates, Chemistry 38,120 candidates and Biology 11,046 candidates. The total number of registrations for the natural science group reached 113,328.
Notably, Foreign Language is the subject with the highest number of registrations if considering each subject separately with 65,475 candidates, accounting for about 45.8% of the total number of candidates taking the exam.
Meanwhile, the social sciences group also recorded a fairly large number of registered candidates. History has 41,113 registered candidates, Geography 33,574 candidates and Economic and Legal Education 23,061 candidates.
In addition to popular subjects, some new or special subjects have a modest number of registrations such as Informatics with 2,087 candidates, Agricultural Technology 873 candidates and Industrial Technology 277 candidates.
According to the assessment of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the registration structure of exam subjects continues to reflect the trend of choosing engineering, technology and fields with high human resource needs of city students, in line with the socio-economic development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City.
