On January 7, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City announced information on enrollment in grade 6 for the 2025-2026 school year at 3 secondary schools: Tran Quoc Toan 1, Hoa Lu and Binh Tho.
The three secondary schools will recruit students by reviewing applications and taking a competency assessment test. Each school will be a testing site (depending on the number of registered students). The schools will conduct the test on the same day and on the same test questions, which will be the responsibility of the Department of Education and Training.
Students who are taking the survey will contact to submit their application to that school (can only register and submit their application to 1 school).
Students will take the test in 90 minutes. The test consists of 2 parts. The multiple choice part consists of 20 English questions about understanding natural sciences, social sciences and common sense.
The Essay section includes: English proficiency test (reading and writing in English); Math and logical thinking ability test in Vietnamese and Reading and writing ability test in Vietnamese.
The exam is scheduled to take place in mid-June 2025.
Regarding the target, 3 schools plan to enroll about 840 students. Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School enrolls 9 6th grade classes (of which at least 5 are Integrated English classes, the rest are Enhanced English classes) with 315 students.
Hoa Lu Secondary School, recruiting 7 6th grade classes (of which at least 3 are Integrated English classes, the rest are Enhanced English classes) with 245 students.
Binh Tho Secondary School, enrolling 8 6th grade classes (of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are intensive English classes) with 280 students.
To register for the exam, students must have completed primary school, wish to study in grade 6 in Thu Duc City, and have an average score at the end of the year in math and Vietnamese of 9.0 or higher.
Each student can only register for the entrance exam at one school (without any other wishes). The exam results of that school will not be used for admission to the other two schools.
Students who fail to pass the entrance exam can register to study at another public school, according to their area of residence.
In Ho Chi Minh City, in addition to these 3 secondary schools, there are 3 other schools: Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School (District 7), Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School (Hoc Mon District) and Tran Dai Nghia Secondary - High School (District 1) that enroll 6th grade students by survey exam.
