Confusing to understand the admission combination of many universities

Reading the admission regulations of universities, Nhu Quynh - a 12th grade student at Dong Son 2 High School (Thanh Hoa) was surprised to see many new and strange admission combinations. The more she read, the more the female student found many combinations of skills for her major.

Quynh cited that the English Language major of Hanoi Capital University enrolls students in groups without English such as C03 (Literature, Math, History), C04 (Literature, Math, Geography), C14 (Literature, Math, Economic and Legal Education). In addition, the majors of Physics Pedagogy, History Pedagogy... also have a series of admission combinations without main subjects.

At Hoa Binh University, 4/5 majors of Medicine and Pharmacy do not have Business degree. The English Language major has 2/5 combinations without English, even the main subject is identified as Literature.

At Trung Vuong University, the English Language major also takes admission in the C00 block (Literature, History, Geography). The University of Medicine and Pharmacy (University of Da Nang) plans to enroll in a new major in Pharmacy for admission in block A01 (Math, Physics, English), not Chemistry.

Not only students but also teachers raise big questions when mentioning this issue. Ms. Tran Thi Tho - a teacher at Hoang Van Thu High School (Hanoi) wondered whether this would affect the input quality of universities.

A subject that has not been invested in since high school but has become a specialized subject at university can cause the quality of training to not be really optimal.

In this context, students need to carefully consider whether their abilities and passion can pursue that career. Opportunities are opened up with challenges, students should choose a combination of subjects that they can confidently study" - Ms. Tho shared.

According to a representative of a Northern higher education institution, the new university admission regulations remove the requirement for each major, each program has a maximum of 4 admission combinations; currently there is no limit on the number of admission combinations. Accordingly, the subject combination used for admission includes at least 3 suitable subjects, including Math or Literature with a score weight of no less than 25%. Thus, schools do not violate the regulations.

This person also believes that subjects at high school level are only the first step in determining students' abilities and love for the profession. Vocational skills will be honed and accumulated at university level, so diversifying admission combinations does not greatly affect input quality.
