Accordingly, the entrance exam for grade 10 high school non-professional in the 2025-2026 school year, Lao Cai province will complete the organization of the entrance exam before June 30 by entrance exam method with 3 compulsory subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language.
The exam content is included in the general education program at the secondary school level, mainly the 9th grade program. The scores of each subject are calculated on a 10-point scale, calculated as a coefficient of 1. The admission score is the total score of the subjects and the priority points, the incentive points (if any).
Students taking the high school entrance exam (according to their wishes 1) if they do not pass the entrance exam, can use the results to apply to another high school in the enrollment area (if there are still quotas).
For Lao Cai High School No. 2 and High School No. 4, the admission is 90% (of the total number of admission targets assigned) for students admitted directly and students taking the exam at the school (including students who did not pass the entrance exam to the High School for the Gifted, Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities in the province); The remaining 10% (of the total number of admission targets assigned) is for students who do not pass the entrance exam at other high schools in the admission area who wish to apply (admitted according to the admission score from high to the target).
In case the number of students considered for admission in the first wish list is not at 90%, the school will continue to enroll in the second wish list until it meets the assigned quota.
Lao Cai High School for the Gifted will organize entrance exams including 3 general subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and subjects for each major class.
For non-professional subjects: Math and Literature: 120 minutes, Foreign Language: 60 minutes.
For the 150-minute specialized subjects, the 3-minute foreign language speaking exam. The scores of each subject are calculated on a 10-point scale (the decimal place is up to 2 digits). The general exam score is coefficient 1, the specialized exam is coefficient 2.
Students who are not admitted to the High School for the Gifted will be able to use the results of general subjects to apply to other high schools in the admission area (including the Provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities and boarding schools for ethnic minorities in districts/ towns) like students taking the exam at the school.
For ethnic boarding schools, entrance exams are organized like for non-professional high schools.
After direct admission, the remaining admission quota is based on the admission scores from high to low, in which the rate of students in the central towns of districts and wards in the city center does not exceed 10% of the total enrollment quota.
Boarding secondary and high schools for ethnic minorities in districts and towns after direct admission, the remaining admission quota is 80% according to the exam scores from high to low, 20% is based on the ethnic and regional structure combined with the exam scores.
Students who are not admitted to Lao Cai Province Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities will use their results to apply to other high schools in the admission area (including boarding schools for ethnic minorities in districts/ towns).
Students who are not admitted to boarding schools for ethnic minorities in districts/ towns will use the results to apply to other high schools in the admission area such as students taking the exam at the school.
