According to the framework plan for the 2025–2026 school year issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, students in provinces and cities will end the school year no later than May 31, 2026. Some localities can proactively adjust their time plans to suit actual conditions, but still must ensure a minimum of 35 weeks of actual study as prescribed.

Regarding the progress of the school year, the Ministry of Education and Training requires the first semester to end before January 18, 2026. After that, schools will continue to implement the second semester program and complete all teaching content before the end of the school year at the end of May.
This requirement is to ensure the quality of education as well as unity throughout the system.
Before entering the summer vacation, educational institutions will organize semester II tests, assess students' learning and training results, and conduct a year-end summary.
For final-grade students, especially grades 9 and 12, this stage is also associated with important exams such as considering the recognition of junior high school graduation, high school graduation exams and admissions to subsequent levels of education.
The Ministry of Education and Training requests localities and schools to proactively develop appropriate review plans, not to put too much pressure on students, and at the same time ensure the organization of serious, safe and regulated exams. In addition, the coordination between families and schools in managing students during the summer is also particularly focused on.
With summer vacation starting from the beginning of June and expected to last until before the new school year 2026–2027 (opening in early September). The summer vacation is a time for students nationwide to rest, balance between studying and playing, and prepare the best mindset for the next school year.
