12th grade students urgently adjust the review schedule
According to updates from Lao Dong Newspaper, to date, more than 30 universities have announced their expected enrollment methods for 2026. Notably, the trend of using transcripts has a clear differentiation, while separate exams are still preferred.
From the perspective of 12th grade students, the adjustment of enrollment plans by a series of universities at this time is creating no small pressure. Nguyen Le Minh Anh - a student of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) - shared that when a school announces the addition of new admission criteria, from abolishing academic transcripts, removing traditional combinations to requiring additional foreign language certificates or competency assessment tests, she has to review the entire planned plan to promptly adjust it to suit.
According to the female student, the adjustment is necessary to suit training orientation and input quality requirements. However, the pace of change is too fast, while students' preparation time is limited. Many students are forced to switch to reviewing in the near future and adjust their aspiration lists, all happening in a state of anxiety because they are afraid of losing the opportunity to enter their dream university.
Sharing the same view, Nguyen Tran Hai Yen - a student at Ha Trung High School (Thanh Hoa) said that he felt worried when many universities simultaneously narrowed down or completely abolished the admission method based on transcripts.
Before this change, the female student was forced to adjust the entire study plan. “I increased exam preparation, re-divided the timetable according to each week, and focused more on compulsory exam subjects and combined subjects. I also registered for more tutoring classes, reworked the roadmap from now until the exam day, and reduced time for extracurricular activities to keep up with new requirements.
In addition, I also proactively learn more about the competency assessment exam, prepare contingency plans if the high school graduation exam scores do not meet expectations" - Hai Yen said.

Maintain orientation, calm down in the face of changes
Giving advice to students, Ms. Tran Quang Van - a teacher at Ha Huy Tap High School (Nghe An) said that the most important thing is that students maintain a calm mentality and have flexible learning strategies. According to Ms. Van, change is inevitable when universities adjust to suit training goals, but if they know how to prepare, candidates can still turn pressure into opportunities.
With many universities adjusting enrollment plans, Ms. Van advises candidates to solidly review the foundation of knowledge for the high school graduation exam. At the same time, carefully study the competency assessment and thinking assessment exams to expand opportunities. Planning weekly study, alternating exam preparation with theoretical consolidation will help students be more proactive in the face of all changes.
Ms. Van also reminded students to update information from official sources such as the website of the Ministry of Education and Training and the official enrollment pages of schools. In addition, she also encouraged students to boldly exchange with homeroom teachers, subject teachers, or career counseling departments of the school to be supported and given appropriate advice.
Giving advice to candidates, Dr. Dang Tu An - Director of the Vietnam Education Innovation Support Fund said that the most important thing for candidates is to maintain the initial direction, instead of rushing to change according to changes.
Instead of being confused, candidates should calmly stick to the set goals, and at the same time monitor enrollment adjustments at a conscious level. Dr. An affirmed that changes from universities mainly aim to improve training quality and ensure fairness in enrollment. Therefore, we should not be too worried when schools adjust combinations or admission methods.
