In the 2026 enrollment plan, many universities in Ho Chi Minh City plan to continue to maintain high school transcript admission as an independent method, or be integrated into the general admission formula.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) said that in 2026, the school plans to use high school academic results (receipts) in many different forms.
Accordingly, HUTECH considers admission based on the total average score of 3 subjects in grade 12; considers admission based on the average score for the whole year of grade 12 and considers admission combining high school transcript scores with high school graduation exam scores.
In addition to methods related to academic records, the school also considers admissions based on high school graduation exam results, the competency assessment exam of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the V-SAT exam and international certificates.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance continues to use high school transcripts in 2026 enrollment through two forms: admission based on combined scores of 3 subjects in grade 12 and admission based on average scores for the whole year of grade 12.
In addition, the school combines other methods such as high school graduation exam scores, the results of the competency assessment exam of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and the V-SAT exam.
Hoa Sen University also plans to consider high school transcripts in 2026, and combine them with other methods such as high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment exam results, V-SAT exams, direct admission and interviews, in order to diversify admission opportunities for candidates.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Management and Technology said it will continue to use high school academic results as one of the admission bases, in parallel with considering high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment exam results and direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the school.
For Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, high school transcripts continue to be used in 2026 admissions through considering the academic results of grades 10, 11 and 12.
In addition to this method, the school also combines considering high school graduation exam scores, the results of the competency assessment exam of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, direct admission and admission based on the specialized competency assessment exam of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City combined with transcripts according to the subject combination of each major.
In the group of schools under Ho Chi Minh City National University, according to the plan, high school transcripts are not used independently but are included in the integrated admission method, combined with competency assessment exam scores and high school graduation exam scores to calculate admission scores. This method has been applied by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) in recent years.
The combined admission method, which uses high school academic results, is also expected to be implemented by Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry in 2026.
According to the school, admission scores are calculated from many components such as high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment exam scores, high school transcripts and other outstanding achievements, thereby aiming to comprehensively and fairly assess candidates' abilities.
Regarding the admission method based on academic transcripts, at the Higher Education Conference on September 18, 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training consulted training institutions on whether to continue maintaining or abolishing this method in university admissions. To date, the Ministry has not finalized the final plan.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2025, more than 42% of candidates used transcripts for university admission, higher than the rate of candidates using high school graduation exam scores (39.1%).
