On January 3, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that in the afternoon of the same day, Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan - Deputy Director, Head of the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police - and the working delegation visited and encouraged Captain Do Quoc Dung - officer of the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police - who was injured while on patrol and control duty to ensure traffic order and safety during the 2026 New Year holiday.

At the hospital, Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan and the working delegation visited and inquired about the health situation, encouraged Captain Dung and his family, and praised the spirit of responsibility and courage in performing their duties.
The Deputy Director of the Provincial Police requested the Provincial Police Hospital to focus on treating and taking the best care so that Captain Dung can soon stabilize his health and return to work; and at the same time directed the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to urgently verify, investigate, and clarify to strictly handle the law violations of the subject.
Previously, at about 7:40 PM on January 2nd, while on patrol and control duty at Km 15+500 National Highway 47C (belonging to Trieu Son commune, Thanh Hoa province), the Task Force of the Provincial Traffic Police Department discovered that the driver of motorbike license plate 36X1-4840 was not wearing a helmet, so they signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection.
However, this person did not comply with the order, accelerated and crashed straight into Captain Do Quoc Dung, causing this officer to be injured.
After the incident occurred, the Task Force quickly controlled the subject and took Captain Dung to the Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment. According to the diagnosis, Captain Dung suffered a fractured left wrist and head injury, and is being treated and monitored.
Initial verification revealed that the motorbike driver was Trinh Ngoc Tan (born 1984, residing in Tan Dan village, Trieu Son commune, Thanh Hoa province). At the time of inspection, Trinh Ngoc Tan could not present a driver's license; the test result showed that the alcohol concentration in his breath was 0.254 mg/1 liter of breath.
Immediately after that, the Task Force made a record of administrative violation against Trinh Ngoc Tan for the acts of: driving a vehicle violating alcohol concentration; not having a driver's license; not wearing a helmet. At the same time, coordinating with Trieu Son Commune Police to consolidate the initial file, handing over the subject and vehicle to the Office of the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to continue investigating and handling according to regulations.
