According to information from the Organizing Committee of Road to Olympia 2024, this year, the laurel wreath is still crafted by designer Do Van Tri (stage name To-Ri).
For the past 10 years, the laurel wreaths of the Road to Olympia finals have been crafted by designer Do Van Tri. The materials used for the laurel wreaths are always carefully selected by the designer and are usually made from brass, which is light, flexible, and has a metallic shine similar to real gold.
After completing the manufacturing process, the wreath will be carefully inspected to ensure that there are no errors and that it meets the highest standards. The final stage is polishing, cooling, carefully grinding to avoid sharp edges, losing worm spots, and polishing to perfection. The wreath is plated with 18K real gold to increase luxury and value, and coated with nano to prevent oxidation and corrosion, durable over time.
Designer Do Van Tri revealed that the laurel wreath has each leaf cut and carved by hand. Every small detail shows the sophistication and ingenuity affirming the value of the champion's efforts and perseverance.
Designer Do Van Tri said: “This year, I want to bring the laurel wreath back to its original form with olive branches, but make it more magnificent and splendid, as a symbol of glory and victory.
The process of making a laurel wreath by hand usually takes about 1 month, but the idea takes a whole year to conceive, requiring patience and high skills from the craftsman. Designer Van Tri's point of view when designing each laurel wreath is "not the most beautiful - but always unique".
Designer Van Tri added: “Each time I make a laurel wreath, it is my message to the children’s dreams of taking flight and their arduous but also proud learning journey. The laurel wreath is not only a gift, but also a congratulation and honor for the deserving winners.”
The final round of Road to Olympia 2024 took place at 8:30 a.m. on October 13 at the central bridge point at Studio S14 - Vietnam Television with the competition of 4 candidates: Tran Trung Kien (Le Hong Phong High School, Phu Yen), Nguyen Quoc Nhat Minh (Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai), Nguyen Quang Phu Duc (Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Hue), Nguyen Nguyen Phu (Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted).
