On October 9, 1954, Hanoi City decided to establish the Military Committee and at the same time established the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. In particular, since 2008, when Hanoi expanded its administrative boundaries, despite many difficulties after the merger, the quality of education continued to improve and discipline was strengthened.

Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong affirmed that in the 2023-2024 school year, the capital's education sector achieved comprehensive results at all levels and fields of study, successfully completing key tasks and contents. The city has 2,913 kindergartens and general schools, an increase of 39 schools compared to the same period last school year with nearly 2.3 million students and nearly 130,000 teachers.
The results of the city's high school graduation exam this year continued to have a strong change with 99.81% of students graduating, an increase of 0.25% and 5 levels compared to 2023, of which the graduation rate of the regular education sector reached 99.12%, 2.24% higher than the graduation rate of regular education nationwide, the highest result in the past 5 years.
Administrative reform; application of information technology, digital transformation in the field of education and training are of interest. Hanoi is the leading unit in the country in the implementation of Digital Report Cards at the Primary level with 97.6%. The capital's students are the leading unit in the country with 184 students winning prizes in national competitions for excellent students...
Confident in the innovation of education and training
Ms. Mai Anh Nguyet - teacher at Nguyen Cong Tru Secondary School (Ba Dinh District, Hanoi) shared that the 70-year journey of the establishment of the Capital Education and Training sector has recorded many special marks, including the implementation period of the 2018 general education program.
"Looking back over the past 4 years, teachers have undergone many changes and transformations. Unlike the old program, the 2018 General Education program has the participation of many textbooks. Teachers are empowered to be proactive and creative with new teaching methods, educating in a way that promotes students' individual abilities more. The role of teachers has changed from the main subject of imparting knowledge to the role of organizers, guides, orienters, and supporters for students. I am proud to work in the education sector and believe that this change will train many talents to contribute to the development of the country" - Ms. Anh Nguyet shared.
Emotion and pride were also shared by Teacher Nguyen Phuong Hoa - Principal of Vinh Tuy Primary School on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Capital's Education and Training sector.
“I am proud to continue writing the traditional history of the capital’s education sector. I came to the teaching profession because of “fate”, and I am attached to the teaching profession because of the two words “happiness”. Happiness in living, in contributing, happiness in sharing knowledge, happiness in growing up, and happiness simply because I get to see the smiles of my students every day they go to school…” - Ms. Hoa said emotionally.
Ms. Hoa expressed her belief that the capital's education sector will certainly continue to develop, grow, and constantly progress, achieving more and more great and good results, meeting new requirements well.
