On September 11, 2025, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2911/QD-UBND announcing a natural disaster emergency for educational institutions damaged by storm No. 5 in Lam Thanh commune.
According to the decision, 6 schools in the area were severely affected, including Chau Nhan Kindergarten, Hung Loi Kindergarten, Hung Phuc Kindergarten, Phuc Khanh Kindergarten, Hoa Binh Primary School and Pham Hong Thai Primary School. The whole commune had about 1,590m2 of classrooms with blown-off roofs, 700m2 of kitchen roofs collapsed, 44 fences collapsed and many teaching equipment, tools, and toys damaged.
The damage has caused difficulties for thousands of students in arranging classrooms, seriously affecting teaching and learning activities.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Finance to coordinate with the People's Committee of Lam Thanh commune to mobilize resources, focus on quickly overcoming the consequences, ensuring that teaching and learning conditions are soon stabilized. The decision takes effect from the date of signing.
Previously, storms No. 5 and No. 6 caused severe damage to Nghe An province, in which hundreds of educational institutions were flooded, damaging equipment and teaching aids.
