Vietnam continues to contribute to bringing peace at the Thailand - Cambodia border

Vietnam welcomes the positive developments between Cambodia and Thailand, and will continue to strive to contribute to bringing peace at the border between the two countries.

On the morning of September 11, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung had an online phone call with Member of the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Prak Sokhonn.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Prak Sokhonn expressed his gratitude from the President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen to General Secretary To Lam, the leaders and people of Vietnam for their warm and thoughtful reception as well as the good results of the exchange with General Secretary To Lam; Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on the occasion of the Cambodian high-ranking delegation attending the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Prak Sokhonn congratulated Vietnam on successfully implementing the process of innovation, reorganizing the apparatus of the administrative system from the central to local levels and maintaining high economic growth in recent times; emphasizing that Cambodia can learn from Vietnam's innovation and development experience.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Prak Sokhonn congratulated comrade Le Hoai Trung on being trusted by the Party and State and assigned a new responsibility.

Thanking Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Prak Sokhonn for his good wishes, Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized that Vietnamese leaders, especially General Secretary To Lam, highly appreciated the Cambodian high-ranking delegation led by President Hun Sen as well as the participation of the Cambodian armed forces in the parade, contributing significantly to the success of the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.

Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung congratulated Cambodia on its political and socio-economic achievements in recent times and affirmed that Vietnam will actively support Cambodia in successfully organizing the 2026 Francophone Summit.

The two sides were pleased to see that the relationship between the two Parties, the two countries in general and cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries in particular have continued to be consolidated and developed well in recent times. Exchanges and contacts between the two countries' senior leaders have set out orientations for developing Vietnam - Cambodia relations.

In order to continue implementing the agreements of the Senior Leaders, the two sides agreed on a number of major directions in the coming time, focusing on strengthening trust, increasing delegation exchanges, high-level and all-level contacts; coordinating to organize well bilateral and cooperation mechanisms between Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos, including the High-level Meeting between the three Heads of the Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos Parties and the 21st Session of the Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

In addition to closely coordinating to find breakthroughs in economic - trade - investment development, the two sides continue to promote relevant agencies to negotiate and soon complete the work of demarcating the land border to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development between the two countries.

Welcoming the recent positive developments between Cambodia and Thailand, including the good results of the Special Session of the Joint Border Committee (GBC) in Koh Kong province on September 10, 2025, comrade Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam will continue to strive to contribute to bringing peace and stability in the border area of the two countries.
