Thanh Hoa - Due to the impact of storm No. 5 causing a serious landslide at Muong Ly Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, the Provincial People's Committee has declared an emergency situation.

On September 9, the People's Committee of Muong Ly commune, Thanh Hoa province, said that storm No. 5 caused a landslide at Muong Ly Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, affecting many construction items. In this situation, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has decided to declare a natural disaster emergency.

According to the decision, serious landslides occurred at the school premises and the official residence of the Interdisciplinary Working Group - Interdisciplinary Team No. 3. Specifically, part of the stone embankment construction line bordering the school campus and the headquarters of the Interdisciplinary Working Group was damaged; the 2-storey administrative building and other items under construction appeared cracked; the teacher's service building and many auxiliary items were affected.

The above incident poses a high risk, threatening the lives and property of 469 students, 20 teachers, 4 households with 16 people living near the area, and 16 officers and soldiers of the Interdisciplinary Working Group. In addition, the landslide also affected the safety of schools, headquarters and National Highway 16.

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested Muong Ly Commune People's Committee to deploy measures to ensure safety for people and property; organize regular shifts, closely monitor landslides, and promptly report when there are dangerous situations. At the same time, install barriers and warning signs, absolutely do not allow people to enter landslide areas, especially during rain and floods.

Muong Ly commune is also required to develop and implement a response plan according to the "4 on-site" motto; proactively evacuate teachers in public housing units to safe places; coordinate with relevant units to survey, assess the cause and urgently propose solutions to overcome the incident.

For the 2-storey administrative building with collapsed retaining walls, the Provincial People's Committee requested the investor to hire a unit to inspect the quality of the project, and only continue construction when meeting technical requirements. Relevant departments, branches and units are responsible for coordinating and guiding the People's Committee of Muong Ly commune to carry out the task of overcoming the incident, ensuring long-term safety and stability.
