Dr. Duong Ton Thai Duong - Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Training Department (VNU-HCM) said that in 2025, VNU-HCM agreed on the policy of implementing 3 university admission methods.
Direct admission (maximum quota of 15%): Admission is in the direction of integrating many criteria along with high school academic results.
Admission based on the results of the Competency Assessment Exam (AP) organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University (minimum quota of 20%): Admission based on the integration of many criteria along with the results of the AP (kg of 50%).
Admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam: Admission is in the direction of integrating many criteria along with the results of the high school graduation exam (kg of which is from 50%).
At the same time, Dr. Duong Ton Thai Duong said that he encouraged member universities to develop a combined admission method to recruit candidates with comprehensive abilities, in line with the training goals of the industry/profession.
In addition, VNU-HCM determined that the early admission quota must not exceed 20% for each major and group of majors. The admission score for early admission (after equivalent conversion) is not lower than the admission score of the general admission round.
Regarding the subject combination used for admission, it will include at least 3 subjects suitable to the characteristics and requirements of the training program, including Math or Literature with the assessment weight accounting for at least 1/3 of the total score.
A training program, major, or group can simultaneously use a number of subject combinations for admission, in which the total number of subjects of the combinations must have an assessment weight of at least 50% of the total score. Thus, schools can use unlimited admission combinations, instead of being allowed to only use 4 combinations as before, but are bound by the weight of the subjects.
For the method of considering academic records, it is required to use the results of the entire 12th grade of the candidate. Thus, universities cannot consider admission based on transcripts and announce the standard scores from March as before (the method of considering transcripts is no longer the method of early admission).
Add the entry threshold from the high school graduation exam score so that candidates can choose 1 of 2, or based on high school study scores, or high school graduation exam scores. Not tying both conditions at the same time as in the draft (in addition to the results of the 3-year high school transcript, there is also the condition for the floor score for the high school graduation exam).
