On September 24, it was recorded that on Kinh Duong Vuong Street (An Lac Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), there were many cases of students driving motorbikes without helmets, carrying more people than the prescribed number or driving motorbikes over 50cc... causing traffic insecurity.

Similar situations have also been recorded on some streets in Xuan Hoa ward - where many secondary and high schools are concentrated.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (52 years old, An Lac ward) said that the situation of students violating traffic laws is not new, it has been happening a lot and for a long time.
"Due to conditions, many parents cannot take their children to school, so giving their children a car is understandable. However, because many students do not have enough awareness or reason to not be mature, they do not wear helmets or carry more people. I think parents need to educate their children more about this issue, analyze it so that they know more about the consequences, thereby better complying with regulations when participating in traffic," Ms. Hang shared.

The Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that it has implemented many plans to maintain traffic order and safety in front of school gates, preventing accidents involving students. However, through patrols and reports from people, the authorities still recorded many worrying violations.
Some violations have caused traffic collisions and accidents, mainly due to subjectivity, negligence, lack of experience and the ability to judge situations slowly, not paying attention to the traffic situation, leading to startling, causing the steering wheel to not be strong, falling, causing serious consequences.
According to statistics, in the total number of students who have been recorded, more than 45% are underage but still drive motorbikes; over 25% are speeding; more than 12% do not wear helmets; about 11% are driving in the wrong lane; and more than 8% do not have a driver's license. In addition, there are still cases of using phones while driving, violating alcohol concentration, climbing the median strip to catch buses.

A representative of the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police emphasized that in the coming time, the force will continue to increase patrols and strictly handle violations, especially the act of racing, weaving, and swerving - which are the direct causes of many serious accidents.
At the same time, the authorities will coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to organize inspection teams at schools, requesting the signing of a commitment to comply with traffic safety regulations, as well as resolutely not accepting motorbikes over 50cc for students who are not qualified to drive.
