School staff do not appear in the draft Law on Teachers
Recently, the issue of salaries and remuneration policies of school employees has always been a hot topic on social networking forums. Notably, the fact that school staff do not appear in the draft regulations of the Law on Teachers is what makes them worried and feel disadvantaged.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le - a school laboratory equipment employee in Dak Nong realized that, despite the same dedication in the education sector, the gap between school staff and teachers is quite far.
“We are also professionals, contributing to the school environment but do not receive as much favor as teachers.
A laboratory equipment employee must also be equipped with pedagogical skills, have professional knowledge of chemicals and laboratory equipment, and support teachers and students in conducting practical experiments. Therefore, the laboratory equipment staff hopes to receive the most satisfactory benefits" - Ms. Le confided.
School staff want to become teachers
Not only Ms. Le, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huong - library staff at Moc Bac Secondary School (Ha Nam) said that in section 5 "Issues asking for opinions" in Draft Law on Teachers No. 2, there is a research proposal. Save objects: laboratory equipment, libraries,... become a teacher.
For Ms. Huong, this proposal brings more hope and motivation to contribute more to the profession for school equipment staff.
“Most school equipment staff hope that the draft Law on Teachers will soon propose that school librarians become teachers because in reality, in addition to their professional work, they also have to do many other tasks. another thing.
In addition, library staff are also assigned to teach 3 reading periods/class/semester and 1 class/class/semester" - Ms. Huong said.
Sharing more about the salary issue, Ms. Huong shared that her monthly salary is about 6 million VND. With this salary, even though we have basic expenses, life is still difficult and difficult.
“Monthly living expenses plus additional expenses make it very difficult to live on salary. Although library staff also attend classes and prepare lectures like a teacher, their job position is that of an employee and they do not receive any allowances or benefits other than salary" - Ms. Huong pondered.
In response to the proposal to turn school staff into teachers, talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thanh Nam - Vice Principal of the University of Education, Hanoi National University said that in order to become a teacher, many special requirements are required. For example, librarians at educational institutions may be required to update their knowledge and pedagogical certificates to build a promotion path and evaluate their work according to their level of competency.
“Support staff in schools need to have opportunities to develop their careers according to their own levels. For example, information technology support staff, facilities or school counselor positions, if necessary, must build their own career development roadmap and receive salary according to rank. If they work in educational institutions, they need to have a pedagogical certificate to ensure the safety and comprehensive development of learners" - Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam said frankly.
