In the 2026-2027 school year, Quang Ninh city has 346 preschool, general and continuing education institutions.
The total number of preschool children, general education students and continuing education students in the area is nearly 372,000 people.
Compared to the previous school year, the number of primary school students decreased by about 3,000, equivalent to 75 classes; secondary and high school levels increased by about 5,500 students, equivalent to 109 classes.
From this school year, high school students and continuing education students in Quang Ninh can borrow textbooks for free.
The whole city has a demand of about 288,278 sets of books. By the beginning of the school year, 100% of educational institutions have completed the procurement and distribution of books, ensuring that students have enough textbooks for study.
Another new policy is to organize electric buses to pick up and drop off students for free in Ha Long, Hong Gai and Ha Tu wards.
Official bus routes serve students from September 5, 2026.
In the initial phase, the city arranged 6 routes, using about 50 30-seat electric buses. As of August 19, 1,728 students from 14 schools registered to use the service.
Along with new policies, Quang Ninh continues to implement 10 specific education policies with a total estimated budget of nearly 800 billion VND per school year. More than 539,000 turns of learners, teachers and officials of the Education sector are expected to benefit.
In the 2026-2027 school year, Binh Lieu Primary and Secondary Boarding School has 26 classes with 653 students.
This is one of 6 inter-level schools invested by Quang Ninh in land border communes. The project has a total investment of 39.5 billion VND, on an area of 9.7ha.
The project is invested with classrooms, subject classrooms, administration buildings, dormitories, collective dining rooms, sports areas, swimming pools and auxiliary items, meeting the learning and living needs of students.
The project was just inaugurated and put into use on the opening day of the new school year on September 5, 2026.
Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Ninh - Principal of Binh Lieu Primary and Secondary Boarding School said that the new facilities help the school have conditions to better organize teaching, care and training activities for students.
From this school year, school students will begin to enjoy policies according to Decree No. 188/2026/ND-CP dated May 27, 2026 of the Government.
Out of a total of 653 students, 292 boarding students are supported with 1.17 million VND for food and 15kg of rice per month; 361 boarding students at noon are supported with 450,000 VND for food and 8kg of rice per month; The benefit period for both groups is no more than 9 months in a school year.
Each student is also supported with 2.05 million VND per school year to buy two sets of uniforms and school supplies. Boarding students are provided with extra blankets, mosquito nets and personal belongings with a budget of 2.05 million VND per student in a school level.
The synchronization of support policies and investment in facilities helps students, especially students in mountainous, border, and island areas, feel secure in going to school and have better learning conditions.
