From pride in an outstanding scientist
2026 marks the 300th birthday of Cultural Figure Le Quy Don (1726-2026) - Outstanding Scholar of Vietnam. For Hung Yen, this special milestone is even more meaningful as his name, career and contributions have become a proud part of the local cultural, educational and studious tradition.
The 300th anniversary of Le Quy Don's birth successfully organized by Hung Yen province is not only an occasion to show gratitude to a talented person of the nation but also contributes to arousing pride in the tradition of learning, researching and creating.
For students, that pride is not only in knowing about a famous scientist but also in the feeling of living and studying in his homeland named after him. The name "Scientist Le Quy Don" appears in the school name, in stories about educational traditions and in the journey of maturity of many generations of students.
Especially, at Le Quy Don High School, Tran Hung Dao ward, Hung Yen province, that pride is even more clearly shown in the early days of the new school year. At the opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 school year, the school was honored to welcome Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to attend the ceremony.
For students studying under the school named after scholar Le Quy Don, it is a special honor. Phan Phuong Linh, a 12D1 student, shared her pride in studying at Le Quy Don High School - a school named after a great national figure. For Linh, the school name is not only associated with tradition but also gives students a feeling of a learning environment with a long history, where each generation has the responsibility to preserve and promote the values that have been nurtured.
“I feel very proud to study under the roof of the school named after the scholar Le Quy Don. This is not only the name of a school but also associated with a great scholar of the nation. For us, it is also a motivation to try to study better and preserve the tradition of the school” - Phan Phuong Linh shared.
Also in class 12D1, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy also clearly feels the pride of becoming a student of Le Quy Don High School. The school is not only a place where students learn knowledge but also a place to preserve the traditions of many generations of teachers and students. This creates more motivation for students to try harder in studying, training and growing up.
“I am very happy and proud to be a student of Le Quy Don High School, especially in the 300th anniversary of the birth of Cultural Figure Le Quy Don. Studying under a school with a long tradition makes me even more cherish what generations of teachers and students have built” - Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy said.
Le Quy Don High School was established in 1957 with the name Thai Binh High School, the predecessor of Le Quy Don High School today. The birth of the school marked an important milestone in the history of education in the province, when the general education system was completed at all 3 levels.
Nearly 70 years is a proud journey of Le Quy Don High School. From a school with the first classes named Thai Binh High School to a school today named after the scholar Le Quy Don, the tradition of studiousness has been continued through many generations.
In the year celebrating the 300th anniversary of Le Quy Don's birth, students sitting in school even more clearly feel the meaning of the name they carry. It is not only pride in an outstanding scholar but also pride in the learning tradition of their homeland.
