On the morning of October 15, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen - Principal of Nam Ly Primary School No. 1 (Dong Hoi Ward, Quang Tri Province) said that the school had inspected and discovered 12 out of a total of 28 classes arbitrarily agreeing on a socialized fee of 312,000 VND/student.
According to Ms. Huyen, after receiving a report from Lao Dong Newspaper, the school held an urgent meeting and agreed to stop all social housing collection and return the entire amount collected to parents. The school will also hold a meeting to review and clarify the responsibilities of related individuals, said Ms. Huyen.
Explaining why many classes have the same price, Ms. Huyen said that at the whole school's parent meeting, the school initially announced the total cost to be mobilized and the number of students after deducting exemptions, from which the classes divided the average to 312,000 VND/student. This is an illegal act.
On the same day, the People's Committee of Dong Hoi Ward said that it had grasped the incident and would conduct a review of all educational institutions in the area regarding the collection of socialized contributions, in order to ensure compliance with regulations and the rights of parents and students.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, many parents of Nam Ly Primary School No. 1 reported that they were required to sign the list of voluntary support contributions for the school, but the collection level was agreed upon at 312,000 VND/student, causing concerns about the voluntariness of the socialized collection.
Many parents of Thuan Duc Primary and Secondary School (Dong Son Ward, Quang Tri) are concerned about the facility support of 200,000 VND/student. This is a voluntary collection but is announced at a fixed date. The school then stopped collecting and refunded the money to the parents.
